Problem worksheets for finding the mean, median, mode and range for sets of mixed sign numbers. These problems can be solved by hand, and earlier worksheets have the numbers sorted to make finding the median and mode easier.
You can compute the mean, median, mode and range across sets of numbers that include negative values as well. Consider a collection of temperature data collected over time... Those values might include values below freezing, so finding the mean temperature is going to require you to add both positive and negative values. Similarly, the range might require you to subtract some negative numbers.
Calculating the mean and the range for a set of values including negatives is great practice for your negative number arithemetic skills. And of course the same concepts apply to determining the median and the mode as well! These worksheets are simple enough that the calculations do not require a calculator, but if you're looking for more of a challenge, be sure to see the worksheets in the next sectioN!
