Metric Measurement: Measure Centimeters from Wholes and Half Centimeters

Measurement worksheets for measuring the length of an object shown at whole and half centimeter positions on a metric ruler.

Worksheets for Measuring Length from Fractions of Centimeters

Measuring the length of something often requires us to look not only at the ending measurement, but a starting offset as well. This is common in a lot of 'in-place' measurements, and it creates the opportunity to introduce subtraction and relative length as part of the measurement thinking process.

These worksheets all deal with measuring the relative length of an object in centimeters or fractions (tenths) of centimeters starting from a fractional centimeter offset on the metric ruler.

Students will find the total length of the object by looking at the ending measurement in centimeters and then subtracting the starting centimeter value. Dealing with partial centimeters on these measurement worksheets is great practice for subtracting decimals!
