Counting coin worksheets, including PDF printables for counting and calculating sets of the same coin or of multiple types of coins. There are also worksheets with coins in order by denomination as well as in random order, just like they come out of your pocket...
Counting coins is a great follow up exercise when students know basic coin values and can use skills like skip counting to figure out how many coins add up to a particular value. Follow this up with mixed coins, and your second grade students will be well on their way to calculating the total amount of money represented by a hand full of loose change.
Follow these worksheets up with the Counting Money Worksheets to do similar calculations with bills, or mixtures of bills and coins.
It may be helpful print and cut out coins from the Play Money page as a physical aid if students struggle to complete some of these operations mentally.
